Mission Statement

Our inheritance:  The Church is here to spread the good news and give thanks that God become one of us in Jesus Christ, died to free us from our sins, and rose again to the eternal life in Heaven offered to all.

What happens here?  The services in this church provide a time and space in which to focus the mind and spirit with guidance on the Christian way of life.

Looking forwards and outwards:  At Trinity we strive to make the love of God a reality, by worship and teaching, by service in the community, and by caring for all, especially in times of need.

The Church complies with and supports “The Constitutional Practice and Discipline of the Methodist Church”.

Procedures are written for local use to set out how the church should be administered. They are intended to be a straightforward summary of, or simplified extracts from, the 1,000 page document described above.

The purpose is to ensure all involved have clear guidelines, so that no matter who is on duty, we are consistent in our standards of administration. For the avoidance of doubt, this document is solely concerned with administration and not with matters spiritual, which is dealt with elsewhere through the ordained Ministry.

Health and Safety

Trinity Methodist Church Penarth is a place of worship large enough to seat 400 people. The church has extensive rooms which are used for church purposes and made available for hire to others in the community.

Trinity Penarth recognises that it has obligations to ensure the health and safety of all its worshippers, volunteer workforce, its subcontractors, its visitors, some of whom are elderly or infirm, those who hire rooms, members of the public and all who come into contact the premises.

The church has implemented a formal health & safety management system which sets out arrangements and procedures, including emergency procedures, risk assessments, which ensure compliance with our obligations, and which include the commitment to the prevention of injury and ill health, continual improvement and the setting of Health and Safety objectives.

This Policy applies to all group leaders, hirers and volunteer workers who are required to carry out their obligations in a safe manner so that they do not endanger themselves, their colleagues or any other person, and do not put equipment or the activity being carried out at risk.

This Policy has been communicated to all church volunteer workers so that they are aware of their individual responsibilities. Appropriate training is offered to the church volunteers and to church group leaders. The hire agreements for outside organisations expressly place the obligation for H&S with the person hiring the room.

Arrangements are also made for church people and hirers to consult the Property and Management Committee on health and safety issues.

Health and Safety performance and this Policy are reviewed regularly, and measures are implemented to achieve improvements in performance.

The Policy is available to interested parties on request.
