Things you could do, if you wish:
When you go shopping, pick up a few of those things you'd never touch like Pot Noodles and pass them to Suzie Speed who is coordinating our help.
Check you wardrobes for warm winter clothes that you don't really need, and let Suzie pass them to the homeless.
See if you have an old sleeping bag from your more adventurous days, and pass this on if you are unlikely to sleep under the stars again.
Keep an eye out for end of season sales of camping kit, and if a shop is selling heavily discounted items, perhaps buy something for Suzie's collection.
Resolve to buy the ingredients for a meal (advice will come from Suzie in due course).
If you have the stomach for it, offer to cook some food in bulk - advice provided.
If you're resilient and a bit of an extrovert, help serving the food. These dear people need eye to eye contact and a word of encouragement. (You don't have to convert them to Christianity - your being there gets the message across).
If you are shy and retiring, be a car loader. Some of the team have to get the food into cars, across town, onto the serving tables, and just as important, to remove empties, clear up, transport home.
Important: You only have to do this very, very occasionally. If you could do one evening in 3 months, it all helps - and there is certainly no need to get hooked for ever. We all need to do just a little bit - occasionally. It will be an act of Christina charity that will be very helpful to the recipients.
Remember this is a joint initiative with Immanuel Church who already are operational and have the infrastructure. We're simply helping them.
